Ball valves themselves function as a valve or control of the flow of fluid. The ball has some form of hole through it which creates a way for liquids to flow through it. The ball is then placed into a passageway that a fluid flows through; the ball is then able to stop the flow depending on where the hole is positioned.
If the hole is positioned parallel to the passageway then the liquid will flow through the valve relatively unrestricted. If the hole is positioned perpendicular to the passageway, then the flow is stopped as the ball will obstruct the fluid and will not let it pass through. The position of the value can be manipulated through manual or automatic operation depending on your applications needs.
High pressure ball valves utilize this same technique except for the fact that they allow for this process to take place within high pressure environments.
Once the right high pressure ball valve manufacturer is able to determine if a high pressure ball valve is right for you, they will also be able to suggest the right type of material according to your work environment and other conditions. Ball valves can be made from a wide range of materials from stainless steel to certain types of plastics.
